We are delighted that you are joining the OLOW community this year!  We know that you and your family have many questions as you prepare for this exciting new experience.  We have a number of resources available to facilitate this transition, including orientation sessions, class parents and our Main Office staff.  We are happy to help at any time.

When is the 1st day of school?
The 1st day of classes is for K - 8th grade students is Tuesday September 6th, 2016.
The first day of classes for Pre-K students is Wednesday 9/9/16 from 9am - 11:45am.
The 1st day of class for Nursery students is Thursday 9/10/16 from 9am - 11:45am.

Please note:
Tuesday, 9/8 and Wednesday, 9/9 are ½ days with an 11:30 am dismissal

Which Uniform Should my child wear on the 1st day of school?
Students can wear their Summer Uniform until October 15th.
Winter Uniforms will be worn from October 16th through April 14th

What time does the day begin?
The school day begins at 8:00 am for K - 8th grade students; 9am for N and PK students.
What time does the day end?
The school day ends at 2:30 pm for K - 8th grade students; 3pm for N and PK students.
Where do I pick up my child at the end of the day?
Our Nursery and Pre-Kindergarten students should be picked up in the lobby of the parish center.

Students in Kindergarten through grade 8 are picked up from the two white doors towards the left side of the building (as viewed from the street).

Where do buses arrive/depart?

We are always conscious of the safety of our children.  In order to ensure safe arrive and dismissal of our students’ large buses will arrive and depart from the front of the school building (Myrtle Avenue) and mini-buses arrive and depart from the recess yard.  There is a school official in each location to monitor the safety of the students.

What is the Uniform Exchange?

The Uniform Exchange is an inventory of lovingly used Uniform items that have been donated by members of the OLOW community.  We have a comprehensive inventory at this time.  Please see the “Uniform Exchange” quick link on the home page.

Is there a cafeteria?

Students are excused from classrooms and congregate in the Montfort Hall Parish Center for lunch.  We are blessed to have partnered with local eateries in the Port Jefferson area that provide nutritious and cost conscious meals for our students.  These lunches are ordered in advance on a monthly basis.  Order forms will be sent home with students ahead of time.  Kindly inform us as soon as possible if your child has a food allergy.

What are before/after care rates and registration procedures?
Before care is offered from 7:00am until the start of the school day.  (Advanced registration is required.)
After care is offered from the end of the school day until 6:00pm.
After care is not offered on half-days or days when school closes due to weather.
